Since 2005, China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and the Asian Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness (AFPB) have carried out a charity project which helped over 60,000 poverty-stricken mothers with cataracts to undergoing surgeries on mobile medical facilities.

Meanwhile, target hospitals have established sight-rehabilitation stations and trained eye doctors and healthcare promotion workers. The project has also assisted mothers to get support from other projects to shake off poverty.
