The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held a work conference on April 19, 2012 in Beijing to summarize the organization's efforts last year concerning women and children's rights and interests.
Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the ACWF Chen Zhili presided over the conference and delivered a speech. Song Xiuyan, vice president and first member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, presented the work report summarizing the organization's activities and work during the past year.
Chen commended the efforts made by relevant departments in their women and children's work, and stated that the work should continue to be prioritized by all the departments involved. "To improve women and children's rights and interests, more breakthroughs will be needed in financial support, project aid and policy," she said.
When delivering her work report, Song said that the relevant departments had worked hard to resolve issues, guided women and children's personal development through participation in national economic activities, and created a healthy environment for women and children's growth. Song also said that "relevant departments are expected to do more work and provide better service for women and children in the coming year".
Also in attendance at the conference were officials from other governmental branches who spoke highly of the organization's work.
